Monday, May 6, 2024
About Bob: Bob joined the NGN team over 4 years ago, stepping into his current role after supporting the pilot migration in February 2020. Prior to joining NGN, he spent nine years as a Distributed Support Provider (DSP), where he got the opportunity to work on the initial planning for NGN. His extensive background in IT support and his early involvement in NGN discussions have made him a valuable resource on this project.

Bob's NGN Contribution: As the Advanced Prep Coordinator, Bob is at the forefront of preparing network printers and other specialized devices for migration to NGN. He crafted the processes followed by his team of technicians, ensuring readiness for migration and seamless remediation, when needed. Bob also serves as the primary point of escalation for his team, addressing both technical and non-technical issues with efficiency and expertise. Bob enjoys and finds fulfillment in the hands-on nature of his team's work, often interacting directly with Yale community members during device remediation. Leading this team allows him and his technicians a unique opportunity to meet and forge connections with many individuals across the campus community who they may not have met otherwise.

Proud Achievements: Bob takes immense pride in the adaptability and efficiency demonstrated by the NGN team as the pace of building migrations accelerates. Their cohesion and effectiveness reflect their dedication and hard work, resulting in seamless transitions and successful outcomes.

Valuable Lessons: Through his experience on the NGN team, Bob emphasizes the importance of efficient collaboration and communication in tackling large-scale projects like NGN. Clear communication and knowing who to go to for help are crucial for the project’s success.

Beyond the Office: Outside of work, you’ll find Bob and his family supporting his son's baseball talent, both in season and off season. As a dedicated baseball family, they invest much of their free time attending practices, games, and various baseball-related activities across Connecticut.

Favorites and Fun Facts: Bob is a diehard Yankees fan as well as a UConn basketball fan, both men's and women's teams. An interesting tidbit about Bob is his memorable experience as a youth baseball player traveling to Cuba as part of a youth ambassador program at the age of 14. Despite losing all their games, the cultural exchange and camaraderie left a lasting impression on him.
