If I have a problem with network access after NGN migration, who should I contact to get help? |
1. Immediately log a ticket with the ITS Help Desk online or by calling 203-432-9000; mention NGN migration when you inform the ITS Help Desk of your issue, either online, in a chat box, or on a call 2. Utilize the NGN Support Hub of the NGN website for self-directed assistance |
I can’t print to my office printer after NGN migration. |
1. If you use a Mac, please see Quick Start Card Remap a Printer 2. If you need further assistance, log a ticket with the IT Help Desk and an NGN Technical Specialist will be available to assist |
My desk phone isn’t working after NGN migration. |
1. Unplug the phone, then plug it back in. Service should be restored in 5-10 minutes, after the phone resets 2. If the problem persists, log a ticket with the IT Help Desk and mention “NGN Migration”. One of our technicians will be onsite to assist |
I am unable to connect remotely to my on-campus desktop after NGN migration. |
Individuals who remotely access (RDC/RDP) a computer or piece of equipment specific to a building will need to change remote access settings from the computer’s IP address to their full computer name. Full instructions and knowledge-based articles are on the NGN Support Hub |
I have specialty devices and I want to know if/how they will operate on the NGN network. |
Attend the NGN Office Hours or email the NGN Transition Support team at NGNTransitionSupport@yale.edu noting the building you are in and device details to engage a technical representative |
I have a concern about my building’s migration date. |
Please use the Tell Us button on the NGN website as soon as you are aware there may be a conflict, no later than four weeks in advance of the planned migration date, for planning consideration |
What will change for me after NGN migration? |
1. You will log in exactly as you did before and you will have access to the same networks, with increased security, reliability, and connectivity. For additional benefits, see the NGN website. 2. For remote desktop connection, see above |
Will my swipe card access be affected during or after migration? |
There should be no impact to your swipe card access during or after migration |
Can my group continue to utilize legacy network subnets after NGN migration? |
Legacy subnets are not supported on the NGN network. One of the main benefits of being on the NGN network is that it provides advanced security to Yale and its researchers; this means the entire University is on one network |
